Exclusive agreement to bring measurement microphones and acoustic systems to UK
Oct 27 2020
In a key strategic move designed to further reinforce its position at the forefront of sound and vibration instrumentation and software, Bedford-based AcSoft Sound & Vibration has announced an exclusive agreement to offer advanced measurement microphones from German company Microtech Gefell to the UK’s automotive, aerospace and defence industries, as well as for environmental applications, for the first time ever.
Microtech Gefell designs, manufactures and supplies microphones and acoustic systems. The company takes a highly customer and application-focused approach to develop and create optimally-designed products that meet real work demands in terms of performance, durability and their practical daily use. Every microphone is assembled by hand by Microtech Gefell’s specialists and then tested and calibrated.
The products have earned a worldwide reputation as precise and reliable acoustic measurement tools for all industries including environmental applications, automotive, aerospace and research and development.
Microtech Gefell also has a well established reputation as a supplier to recording studios, radio and television, mobile sound reinforcement and fixed installations in parliaments and conference venues.
Paul Rubens, General Manager at AcSoft comments: “Supplying measurement microphones in a world dominated by Danish companies is always a challenge but one which Microtech Gefell has risen to, with now a wide range of capsules, preamplifiers and other hardware, including intensity probes and calibrators, generally at more competitive prices.
He adds: “It isn’t just a me-too company either. The technology has been continually developed and is now the go-to choice for advanced measurement systems such as Svantek’s SV200A monitoring station and 977A Class 1 sound level meters, and Sinus’ Apollo acquisition units.”
An example of the technology can be seen in the newly launched MV240 preamplifier, which supports either prepolarised or 200V microphones, with 2.24bit converters covering the range 7-16odB in one hit. The output is a 32bit stream via USB which also provides powering.
