QED Environmental Systems celebrates golden anniversary
Feb 16 2022
February 2022, marks QED Environmental Systems’ 50th anniversary. Founded as Geotechnical Instruments Ltd, the company started by manufacturing and providing instrumentation for the civil engineering sector out of its original site in Hatton Locks, just outside Warwick, in the heart of England, in 1972. QED Environmental Systems Inc acquired the company in 2016, rebranding it as QED Environmental Systems Ltd in 2018.
QED Environmental Systems’ first steps into the gas analysis market was in 1990, with the introduction of their GA-90 series for the waste management industry. The GA-90 series was the forerunner for many of QED’s current product ranges, such as the Huberg Laser One and Geotech SEM5000. These instruments use laser spectroscopy technology to offer unsurpassed levels of speed and precision to users of gas detection instruments.
QED’s geotechnical instruments have been used on many high profile architectural and infrastructure projects, these include the Channel Tunnel, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank building, Singapore’s Changi Airport, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and Thailand’s North-South Expressway.
Dean Kavanagh, Managing Director at QED Environmental Systems’ managing director, stated: “It’s incredibly exciting to see just how far the business has come since the acquisition. The past 50 years has seen the company launch a number of market-leading geotechnical products and contribute to a number of world-renowned feats of engineering, becoming one of the world’s leading providers of gas analysis, detection and environmental solutions in the process.”
