Separate out isobaric interferences to achieve new levels of precision and accuracy with unique MS/MS technology
Aug 30 2022
The new Thermo Scientific™ Neoma™ MS/MS MC-ICP-MS is built upon the robust Thermo Scientific Neoma MC-ICP-MS platform but goes an extra step of combining market-leading sensitivity and precision with ultimate isotope selectivity with the patented MS/MS technology.
The unique pre-cell mass filter allows only a small mass range to enter the collision/reaction cell optimising the reaction pathways within the collision/reaction cell and dramatically improving abundance sensitivity.
In geological research, boron isotope analysis of carbonate samples via LA-ICP-MS has previously been challenged by elevated 10B baselines due to the interferences from scattered Ca4+ ions. The pre-cell mass filter of Neoma MS/MS MC-ICP-MS eliminates this problem by filtering out Ca ions before isotopic separation. This means that measured boron isotope ratios of carbonate samples are accurate and do not require a secondary matrix correction.
By eliminating the interference from scattered Ca ions, the Neoma MS/MS MC-ICP-MS allows for accurate boron isotope analysis of carbonate samples, precluding the requirement for well-matched standards. This should allow researchers to investigate a wider range of samples and provide confidence in the accuracy of the boron isotope ratio.
The Neoma MS/MS MC-ICP-MS platform offers technology that users can trust: ·
- Extended dynamic range
- Excellent abundance sensitivity
- Extended choice with 24 amplifier array
- Enhanced variable detector array
